3. Netflix

Netflix has recently upped its base price and has an always-fluctuating library of streaming titles. While you can stream for $7.99, that service is only standard definition. The actual base package, which is $11, allows for HD streaming on two devices. $14 gets you four simultaneous streams and 4K, which is a reasonable rate. That said, as a cable replacement, Netflix does leave a lot to be desired. Live TV isn’t possible through Netflix, so sports and locals are right out. If you like keeping up with current shows, too bad: they won’t be updated until the season finishes airing. If you like the pricing model, though, the backlog is usually pretty good.

Netflix’s original programming is the real meat of the service. Daredevil, Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, the list goes on. If any of those shows sound like your jam, Netflix is a great service. If you’re trying to cut the cord, though, try another streaming service.
