Rumor Mill: Cheaper Switch Coming in June

There have been rumors swirling regarding new versions of Nintendo’s mega-popular Switch system for months. Most rumors have centered on a supposed “Pro” version that fans hope includes better graphical capabilities and a larger, brighter screen. However, recent rumors indicate that a less-expensive, more kid-friendly Switch is likely to hit as early as June of this year.

Less Expensive Switch Coming in June

    The Rumor

This rumor comes courtesy of a report from Bloomberg, which corroborates existing speculation regarding the hybrid console. However, the rumor doesn’t include any information regarding exact release date, console specifications or a price point. All that is included in this rumor is that  the system will likely see a June release and will cost less than the existing Switch.

    Best Guesses

If we had to hazard a guess, a less expensive Switch model could go a few ways. One of the simplest ways for Nintendo to do this would to be making a Switch that doesn’t, well, Switch. A system with no dock and without the capability of up-scaling graphics for TV mode could be sold for less than the existing $300 model.

This move, while simple, seems unlike. The biggest selling point of the Switch is the ability to play in handheld mode or TV mode. As such, a more likely outcome is a Switch model without detachable Joy-Cons, a smaller screen and perhaps even a small battery.

This model could still include a dock, though it would likely require buyers to furnish their own controllers for use in TV mode.

    Potential Price

We wouldn’t be surprised to see a scaled-back Switch retail for between $220 and $250, making it a more affordable option. Nintendo has long seen the young demographic of gamers as ideal targets for their handheld systems, making console revisions like the Nintendo 2DS with that exact demographic in mind.

It makes sense that Nintendo would want to release a less expensive, more kid-friendly version of their mega-hit console. Parents are more likely to buy their kids a cheaper console, especially if they already have a Switch or PS4 in the living room.

These are luxurious, compact and affordable, and will keep you riding in style even as you keep your car payments reasonable.

    2018 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

Mercedes-Benz, a well-known name in the world of luxury cars, offers the CLA-Class as a more affordable entry option to their range of vehicles. While you’ll only pay $33,695 for base models of the 2018, you’ll get the full Mercedes-Benz luxury experience. Some of the base features are pretty high-tech and impressive. For instance, it comes stock with drowsy-driver sensors, forward collision mitigation and rain-sensing windshield wipers. If that’s not enough for you, it even sports dual-zone climate control and Bluetooth! Add-ons include LED headlights, heated seats and adaptive cruise control. You can even opt for blind spot monitoring if you’re like me and forget to check those every time!

    2018 Acura ILX

The ILX is a great choice for those who want a luxury ride but still want to have a practical vehicle. This vehicle has some pretty sweet amenities for its low price tag. While base models cost about $29,000, they also have keyless entry and ignition and heated front seats. they also sport dual-zone climate control, for when the driver and passenger feel comfortable in two different temperatures, and automatic LED headlights to help cut through hazardous weather conditions. For those who want a bit more, they can also opt for some safety features like adaptive cruise control and front collision mitigation. 2018 Audi A3

The next car on our list, the elegant Audi A3, starts at around $33,000. And it does more than just look pretty: it has some stellar luxury features. The A3 comes standard with forward collision mitigation, helping make sure you keep your nice new luxury car out of trouble. You can grab a base model for $35,895, and that equips you with push-button start, dual-zone climate control and rain-sensing windshield wipers. You even get Bluetooth connectivity! If you want a more upgraded experience, you can also opt for a sunroof, among other awesome options.

    Tesla Model 3

When it comes to brand recognition, few cars are in the same boat as Tesla. The astonishing range and acceleration on display in the Model 3 make its all-electric powertrain that much more impressive. The luxurious interior, with its minimalist design and simple center screen, feels like a car from the future.
For the price of $35,000 you can get the Standard Range Tesla, though a few thousand more bucks gets you the Long Range. It’s a difference of about a hundred miles of range, as the Standard Range allows for an impressive 240 miles, while the Long Range sports 310 miles. The Long Range will run you a steeper $49,500.
The Model 3 makes our list, however, due to the all-electric nature of the vehicle working in conjunction with its great drive and range. This is, for all intents and purposes, a totally normal car that also happen to need neither gas nor oil. You won’t need to fill it up, get oil changes or worry about most regular maintenance. That’s all behind you once you go fully electric.

  • You Won’t Believe How Easy it is to Lose Weight Eating These Foods

You Won’t Believe How Easy it is to Lose Weight Eating These Foods

Are you trying to lose weight? It’s not very easy to shed the pounds. Whether you’re active or more sedentary, it’s difficult to lose weight. One of the best ways to lose, other than exercise and portion control, is by eating foods that encourage weight loss.

Not all calories are created equal. Different foods go through different metabolic pathways in your body. They can have vastly different effects on your hunger, hormones and the number of calories you burn. Here are some of the most weight-loss-friendly foods on earth that are supported by science.
Remember, the only person for whom you should lose weight is yourself. Don’t try to live up to someone else’s expectations of what you should look like. If you feel like losing weight and eating healthy is right for you, great! However, if you’re on the heavier side but eat healthy and feel good, don’t stress. Everyone’s body is different.

Foods to Help you Lose Weight

    Avocados

Avocados are a unique fruit. While most fruits are high in carbs, avocados are loaded with healthy fats. They’re particularly high in monounsaturated oleic acid, the same type of fat found in olive oil. Despite being mostly fat, avocados also contain a lot of water and fiber, making them less energy-dense than you may think.

What’s more, they’re a perfect addition to vegetable salads, as studies show that their fat content can increase carotenoid antioxidant absorption from the vegetables 2.6- to 15-fold. They also contain many important nutrients, including fiber and potassium. Avocadoes also taste fantastic and go well with tons of types of food, from sushi to avocado toast. There’s a reason they’ve become so popular recently!

    Salmon

Fatty fish like salmon is incredibly healthy and very satisfying, keeping you full for many hours with relatively few calories. Salmon is loaded with high-quality protein, healthy fats and various important nutrients. Fish — and seafood in general — may also supply a significant amount of iodine.
This nutrient is necessary for proper thyroid function, which is important to keep your metabolism running optimally. Studies show that a significant number of people don’t fill their iodine needs. Salmon is also loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to help reduce inflammation, which is known to play a major role in obesity and metabolic disease. Mackerel, trout, sardines, herring and other types of fatty fish are also excellent.
Fish, in general, can be a great replacement in most meals for steak or pork. By substituting in a nice fish steak, you leave a lot of the fat and negative contents of other types of meat off of your plate. This is great for people looking to eat healthier and lose weight.

    Greens

Leafy greens include kale, spinach, collards, swiss chards and a few others. They have several properties that make them perfect for a weight loss diet, such as being low in calories and carbohydrates and loaded with fiber. Essentially, you need to be eating more greens than you already are, even if you’re a habitual greens-eater. They’re just that good for you.

Eating leafy greens is a great way to increase the volume of your meals, without increasing the calories. Numerous studies show that meals and diets with a low energy density make people eat fewer calories overall. Leafy greens are also incredibly nutritious and very high in many vitamins, antioxidants and minerals, including calcium, which has been shown to aid fat burning in some studies.

    Fibrous Vegetables

Fibrous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and brussels sprouts. Like other vegetables, they’re high in fiber and tend to be incredibly filling. What’s more, these types of veggies generally contain decent amounts of protein. A common misconception about plant-based diets is that they’re low in protein, though this is entirely unfounded. Many plant-based diets can include as much protein as meat-based ones.

They’re not nearly as high in protein as animal foods or legumes but still high compared to most vegetables. A combination of protein, fiber and low energy density makes cruciferous vegetables the perfect foods to include in your meals if you need to lose weight. They’re also highly nutritious and contain cancer-fighting substances.
    Whole Eggs

Once feared for being high in cholesterol, whole eggs have been making a comeback. New studies show that they neither adversely affect blood cholesterol nor cause heart attacks. What’s more, they’re one of the best foods to eat if you need to lose weight, as they’re high in protein, healthy fats and can make you feel full with a very low amount of calories.

One study in 30 overweight women showed that eating eggs for breakfast, instead of bagels, increased feelings of fullness (satiety) and made participants eat less for the next 36 hours. Another eight-week study found that eggs for breakfast increased weight loss on a calorie restricted diet, compared to bagels. Eggs are also incredibly nutrient dense and can help you get all the nutrients you need on a calorie-restricted diet. Interestingly, almost all the nutrients are found in the yolks.

  • Beat Your Arthritis Pain with These Top Remedies

Beat Your Arthritis Pain with These Top Remedies

Think you know everything about arthritis? More than 50 million people in the United States are affected by arthritis, and up to 67 million are expected to be diagnosed by the year 2030. Arthritis pain can be downright incapacitating if it gets intense enough.

Wrists and joints ache and you feel as though nothing can make you feel normal. When not properly treated, arthritis can be damaging to many aspects of people’s lives, causing all kinds of physical and emotional issues stemming from chronic pain and the loss of mobility. There has been much research into arthritis remedies for those suffering with aching joints. Here are a few you can try.

    Top Arthritis Remedies

    Hot and Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapy can do wonders for aching joints from arthritis. Taking a nice, long and hot bath or shower in the morning can do aching joints wonders. Alternatively, using electric blankets or heating pads can help to relax stiff joints.

On the other hand ice therapy can be used to alleviate intense pain rapidly. Ice packs wrapped in towels and applied to sore joints can provide fast relief. Follow this cold treatment with a bit of heat treatment for relief from joint pain!

    Turmeric
Consider adding turmeric to your diet in higher quantities. This root plant is a known anti-inflammatory and has been used as a natural remedy for hundreds of years. You can add it to dishes easily, as it is a common spice. It tastes really good, too! While it’s not a cure-all, you might find it helps to alleviate symptoms of joint pain.

The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric could result in your joints and tendons feeling some relief from your arthritis symptoms. This is a great way to attempt to tackle your symptoms from several angles.

Because, at the very worst, it’ll just add some spice to your dishes!

    Cocoa/Chocolate
Did you know that cocoa provides an abundant source of phytochemicals? You might not know much about phytochemicals, but this odd ingredient means cocoa is an antioxidant – and antioxidants are known to help with cardiovascular health, brain function, and cancer prevention. If you have RA, consuming cocoa (yes, even in the form of chocolate) can also benefit your immune system.

Chocolate, specifically dark chocolate, can significantly reduce inflammation throughout the body. Cocoa properties are known to decrease COX-2 enzymes that cause inflammation, meaning every bite of dark chocolate helps decrease what’s causing your aches and pains.

When you consume chocolate, it triggers the release of serotonin in the brain – or what many people call “the happiness chemical.” Serotonin literally changes your mindset, releasing happiness and lifting your mood.

Suffering from the symptoms of RA can have a devastating impact on your well-being. However, treating yourself with dark chocolate can help combat both a bad mood and a little of your pain. Enjoying dark chocolate (in moderation, of course) is enough to lift up your spirits, even if just for a moment.

    Acupuncture
The use of acupuncture for treating pain is a bit contentious. However, many patients claim that their chronic pain symptoms are greatly alleviated by acupuncture. Consider visiting a specialist for a consultation and a quote! They might be able to help you.

In short, acupuncture is a practice that uses select placement of needles to attempt to manipulate the body’s pain receptors. Some practitioners ascribe the benefits of acupuncture to the manipulation of chi flow in the patient. Chi is an energy force that many Eastern traditions believe flows through all living things, though scientific examination has shown no evidence of such a force.

Those patients who have had acupuncture treatments have had varying responses, though many claim that the procedures have helped them manage their arthritis pain.

    Massage
Along those same lines, you could consider visiting a massage therapist. They could use massage techniques to help relax your muscles and loosen stiff joints. Alternatively, you could work with a physical therapist to learn techniques of self-massage if it would be difficult to see a professional regularly.

    Exercise
Make sure you get lots of exercise! Simply staying active can work wonders on aching or stiff joints. Make sure you walk often and don’t spend all day indoors. If you find walking to be too high-impact, consider hitting the pool. Getting some light swimming in is a great way to work your joints, tendons and muscles without putting a lot of stress on them. Staying limber and exercising often is a great way to directly tackle arthritis symptoms.

Try a combination of these arthritis remedies and hopefully they will alleviate your symptoms!

  • Should You Buy the All-Digital Xbox One?

Should You Buy the All-Digital Xbox One?

The new All-Digital Xbox One S is due out on May 7th, though there are a lot of questions surrounding the new console. Microsoft’s newest Xbox One is an unusual device: it sports no disc drive and can only play games that are downloaded digitally. Should you buy this new version of the Xbox One, or should you wait to see what else is happening with Microsoft’s games?

    All-Digital Xbox One S

    What’s Up This?

The existence of the all-digital Xbox One S might come as a bit of a surprise to some people. Who would even want a game console with no disc drive? Well, if you’re asking that question, you already know this system isn’t for you. However, if you want to play Microsoft’s Xbox games without breaking the bank and don’t mind the idea of downloading all of your games, read on.

    The Difference

The all-digital Xbox One is the exact same system as the normal Xbox One S. The only difference, of course, is the lack of disc drive. However, the system is also $50 less expensive than the disc-drive version, and it comes packed with three games.

For $250, you get an Xbox One S with no disc drive, an Xbox One Controller and Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3 and Sea of Thieves. Since Microsoft’s Spring Sale is on right now, you can pick up three months of Xbox Games Pass for $1. That means for the low price of $251 you can get access to tons of Microsoft and third-party games.

    Should You Buy It?

If you already own an Xbox, there’s nothing new here. However, if you don’t have a game system and want one to play the newest AAA titles, this is a very wallet-friendly way to do just that. Microsoft’s made some huge strides in making their brand more appealing for gamers in the last few years. Maybe it’s time to give their newest Xbox a shot!

  • Is Samsung’s Newest Phone Worth the Price? Galaxy S10+ Review

Is Samsung’s Newest Phone Worth the Price? Galaxy S10+ Review

Samsung is the big dog in the world of Android phones. Their Galaxy line is a juggernaut, largely defining each era of Android smartphones. Their newest phone, the massive Galaxy S10+ with its unusual hole-punch design in the front is upon us. Is the newest Galaxy phone worth the $1000 price of entry?

    Galaxy S10+ Review

    Galaxy-S10

    Specs

Under the hood, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ both sport all the bells and whistles you expect from a modern flagship phone. This includes the Eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU, 12 MP main camera, 4100mAh battery in the Plus model and flashy specs like an in-screen fingerprint scanner and wireless charging.

The most noticeable feature about the phone, however, is that weird hole-punch in the top corner. It’s incredibly eye-catching, and you’ll often find your eye drawn to it during normal use of the phone. This isn’t a case like the iPhone X’s notch, which fades from your notice shortly after using it.

    The Issues

If you’ve used a Galaxy phone in the last three years, you know that they’re great. The phones are fast, responsive and sport beautiful screens and great cameras. However, the Galaxy S10 has some noteworthy issues we want to discuss.

The first is that in-screen fingerprint scanner. It’s a 3D scanner, mounted under the screen and impossible to see unless you shine a flashlight at the screen. However, it’s tiny, much smaller than a fingertip and hard to use. It often misses the finger, takes several seconds to unlock, and makes using the phone awkward and cumbersome.

The phone also comes pre-loaded with shovelware, even if you buy it unlocked directly from Samsung. Within, you’ll find McAfee antivirus cooked into the OS, Facebook (which can’t be uninstalled), your photos will want to share your location with FourSquare, and both FlipBoard and Spotify are on the phone when you open it.

    Bottom Line

The Galaxy S10 is $900, while the S10+ is $1,000. For those prices, you could opt instead for an iPhone XR, a much more user-friendly and well-designed phone. If you want to keep your phone in Android’s ecosystem, you could opt for any number of more affordable options from Huawei, OnePlus or even one of Samsung’s own older Galaxy phones.

For the huge price tag, it’s not much worth getting a Samsung Galaxy S10 or S10+. Opt instead for the S9 if you’re dying to own a modern Galaxy phone.

  • Apple Watch Series 5: What to Expect and Early Rumors

Apple Watch Series 5: What to Expect and Early Rumors

It feels like Apple’s Series 4 watch only just launched, but we’re already hearing scuttlebutt related to this year’s Series 5 watch. While Series 4 was a huge leap forward, featuring larger screens, rounded bezels and advanced EKG features, Series 5 is shaping up to be another massive step.

    Apple Watch Series 5

    Sleep Tracking

One of the major places that the Apple Watch Series 4 is lacking in is advanced sleep tracking tech seen on some competitors’ watches. At present, for sleep tracking, Apple Watch users have to rely on third-party apps. However, the Apple Watch line, up to this point, hasn’t sported good enough battery life to even be worn overnight while sleeping.

The Series 5 is aiming to fix both of these errors, adding advanced sleep tracking tech as well as better overall battery life. How it will approach the issue of battery life remains to be seen, but it could use a low-power night mode when it detects the wearer is sleeping. Another option is to simply pack in a bigger battery.

    Charging

Apple’s AirPower proprietary charging pad is now well and truly dead. However, the Apple Watch Series 5 was meant to charge from it and won’t accept normal Qi charging. What this means for the new watch remains to be seen, though it could mean that upcoming iPhones will be able to charge the watch from their own batteries.

We’ve seen tech like this on Samsung’s phones, so it wouldn’t be odd to see Apple keeping their charging solutions all in the family.

    iPhone-Locked

Up to this point, every Apple Watch has required an iPhone to set them up. This makes them locked firmly into Apple’s ecosystem, unlike other smartwatches. Most other smartwatches can be used with Android or iPhone, making them more versatile than Apple’s proprietary watch.

Perhaps the Series 5 will mark the first time that Apple lets their watch out into the wide world of Android phones. It would be a good move for a company that has been seeing slowing sales of their iPhone line.

  • Samsung Delays Galaxy Fold Launch Events

Samsung Delays Galaxy Fold Launch Events

The Galaxy Fold is hitting some snags. It’s been reported that the first-of-its-kind foldable smartphone is having some serious issues with its early review models. Flickering, dying screens, bulges in the hinges and even full internal screen failures have been common with early review models.

In a reportedly unrelated move, Samsung has delayed two Galaxy Fold launch events. Now its unclear if the Fold will be hitting its shipping dates on time. However, Samsung holds that the delay in the April 23rd and 24th events were delayed due to issues with the venue, not the phone.

    Galaxy Fold Launch Events Delayed

    Casting Doubt

When the Galaxy Fold was first announced, it was greeted with cautious optimism by smartphone enthusiasts. However, there are now a number of questions being asked about the incredibly expensive folding handset.

The Galaxy Fold will retail for around $2,000, making it one of the most expensive smartphones ever released. On top of being incredibly pricey and sporting an unusual design, early issues with review models have some people wondering whether the phone will even be worth that price tag.

    Folding Phones

Some have even gone so far as to question whether folding smartphones are going to work out. The apparent fragility of the phone and its supposed lack of difference from existing Galaxy phones has many enthusiasts worried. Will general consumers even be willing to drop thousands of dollars on a phone that could break so easily?

    Official Word

The official word from Samsung is that the Galaxy Fold is still on track for its April 26th launch date. While Samsung assures the public that the phones will be moving along at a good clip, many are drawing parallels to the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 launch. During that launch, many people noted their Note 7’s batteries overheating and even catching fire in some cases.

Time will tell if the tremendously expensive foldable phone, which sports double the screen size in the same space as a normal smartphone, proves popular enough to overcome these early hurdles. Samsung certainly has their work cut out for them convincing the public that the Fold is worth the expense.

  • Hurricane Michael Was Category 5 When it Touched Down: Updates

Hurricane Michael Was Category 5 When it Touched Down: Updates

When Hurricane Michael made landfall on the Florida Panhandle in October of 2018, it caused absolute havoc. The storm was originally estimated to have hit at Category 4, though it seems that categorization might have been incorrect. New post-storm analyses show it hit at Category 5 when it touched down.

Hurricane Michael Category 5 When it Touched Down

    Stronger Than Thought

New post-storm analyses have drawn new conclusions about the 2018 hurricane. It now appears that the storm had winds at 160 mph even when it hit land. As such, Michael is only the fourth ever Cat 5 hurricane to touch down on US soil.

Originally, it was thought that the storm had wind speeds up to 155 mph when it hit land on October 10th. That would have made the storm on the high end of Category 4. However, no matter the recorded windspeeds, the storm was incredibly destructive.

    Destructive Power

The destructive power of the storm was nearly unprecedented. While only a small portion of the coast was exposed to the full force of the Category 5 wind speeds, the destruction was widespread across the Panhandle and even into the Carolinas.

The storm was directly responsible for no less than 16 deaths, and indirectly could have cause as many as 30 more. Economically, roughly $25 billion in damage was wrought in the United States alone. That’s not counting the amount of damage the storm wreaked on the islands before making US landfall.

    What This Means

While this new up-tick in Categorization is interesting for academic reasons, it has no bearing on the actual damage the storm wrought. Hurricane Michael’s categorization is more important for chronicling weather history than for assessing the damage it dealt to the coast.

The last Category 5 storm to hit the US before Michael was Andrew in 1992. Before that, Camille hit in 1969 and the Labor Day Hurricane was a Category 5 in 1935.

  • Ever Wondered What Jason Momoa Looks Like Without a Beard?

Ever Wondered What Jason Momoa Looks Like Without a Beard?

Jason Momoa is a very beloved actor and is known for his good looks, big muscles and killer beard. In a new YouTube video Momoa, who has played Aquaman and Khal Drogo, shaves off his famous beard, causing tons of his fans to cry out and ask “why?”. There’s actually a very good reason, so read on to find out.

Why Did Jason Momoa Shave his Beard?

    Jason Momoa

Momoa is well-known for his roles in Game of Thrones and the DC Cinematic Universe. In Game of Thrones, he portrayed wild horse-lord Khal Drogo, a fan-favorite character. In the DC Universe, he portrays a much swarthier and meaner version of Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman.

A huge part of his public image, of course, is his thick beard. In a video recently uploaded to YouTube, however, Momoa is seen shaving off his famous facial hair.

    For a Good Cause

Momoa uploaded the beard-shaving in order to draw views to the video for a good cause. The video, sponsored in part by the Aluminum Association, draws attention to the pollution of plastic bottles and the importance of recycling.

Momoa, per the Association, tells the viewer that 75% of all aluminum that has been produced is still in circulation today. As such, Momoa and the Association argue that the use of aluminum is much preferable to plastic.

    So Long, Beard

As Momoa shaves off the famous beard, he bids farewell to the famous characters he’s portrayed with it. He says goodbye to Aquaman and Khal Drogo, all while walking through a desert that is strewn with plastic.

Momoa explains that his big change in appearance is preface to another change. That change, he says, is aluminum over plastic. Given that he also plays Aquaman and defends the seas, it makes sense that Momoa would want to see us cut down on plastic usage. After all, the oceans are home to the vast majority of plastic pollution.
