    New Galaxy Watch and What We Know

    The Samsung Gear was lackluster and not a commercial hit. The adoption in comparison is dismal to the iWatch’s success. Samsung is looking to change that with its next Galaxy Watch. While its name, its OS, and its features are pretty much still in flux, which, at the very least, makes it sound a bit more exciting.

    What We Know

    Very little Im afraid. There have not been alot of details released yet. Lets start with what we know. It will be round for starters, they will not be adapting to Apples square face. Bixby will be a huge and integral part of this watch.Although Bixby has been out for more than a year now, Samsung’s homegrown AI assistant has not descended on any of the current smartwatches. That will change with the Galaxy Watch. Oh yeah,  Presumably we also have a name, ,A registered trademark on “Galaxy Watch” has been leaked.

    Its Safe To Assume

    While we don’t have any confirmation its safe to assume the next line in the Galaxy Watch will be a big upgrade from previous models. For it to compete with the legendary and most popular watch on the planted, the iWatch, it will have to be something special. Look for vast strides in the ai and voice control aspect. Bixby will do things Siri just cant and hasn’t even though of yet. It will be much easier to use and that in turn will give this the commercial appeal all of android is been lacking since the dawn of time, or 2010.

    What Would Be Cool in the Galaxy Watch

    This is the part of these articles I like the most. This is where we get to throw in all the stuff my little heart could desire in a new Galaxy Watch. What do I want, I want battery. Battery Life, I can not stress this enough. A watch I  don’t have to worry about charging for a week. Use that cool Rolex kinetic energy technology they have been using since the beginning of watches to recharge my smartwatch. A big face, 52-54mm. Make is glorious and a true fashion and status statement, like a watch should be. Holograms? ummm yes please. a bit better speaker, just to make taking a phone call on your watch actually viable. Last but not least, lets change Bixby to Sam. Sam, short for Samsung seems like a friendly guy I would like to chat with. The name is also very gender neutral and could easily pair with a nice female voice.  Plus we get the added feeling of being Dick Tracy and talking to Sam back at the station.

    The Final Thought

    Whats left to say? Well plenty. We will have more solid info when these details emerge. My industry sources tell me look for a Note release in late Aug for this new Galaxy Watch.

    Many consider Samsung the frontrunner when it comes to Android phones. And really, that’s an apt assessment: Samsung’s no joke! The next phablet-sized phone from Samsung, the Note 9, is set to be released on August 9th, which is must sooner than anticipated. It seems Samsung’s looking to beat Apple to the punch so the hype for the next iPhone X doesn’t drown out their phablet. What can we expect to see from the giant phone? We’ve got a Galaxy Note 9 rumor roundup for you to find out! 

    Bixby 2.0 

    Rumors about the updated functionality of Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby have been swirling since the Note 9 was announced. Details are scarce at this moment as to what that might entail. However, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that shortcuts like the ones being introduced to Siri in iOS 12 could be coming to Bixby. Shortcuts are pre-programmed vocal cues meant to call up specific apps or functions, and they’re Apple’s answer to Alexa. It wouldn’t surprise us to see Bixby rocking similar features. 

    Design 

    Early leaks of the Note 9’s design indicate it won’t differ much from the Note 8. It’ll sport a USB-C port, a stash for the S pen and very slim bezels. Many Android users will be pleased to hear that the Note 9 will not be rocking the notch like so many other modern smartphones. Instead, it’ll simply sport very, very slim bezels to maximize screen size.  

    Previous rumors held that the Note 9 would have an in-display fingerprint scanner, but that now seems less likely. Since the phone is launching in August, that’s not a lot of time for announcements of that scale. Additionally, rumors from the supply chain suggest that Samsung has decided on a back-of-phone scanner. However, it isn’t totally out of the realm of possibility, just unlikely.  

    Pricing 

    While we have no concrete pricing info yet, judging from the previous Note release, this one won’t be cheap. The Note 8 launched at $929, and it was even more in countries outside of the US. With Apple’s iPhone X costing $1,000, we could see Samsung charge even more for the phone. This is to be expected, of course: it’s a premium smartphone with a giant screen and an included stylus. You weren’t getting out for cheap to get the very best!

    Samsung’s popular range of Galaxy phones are known for being some of the very best smartphones to run Android. As such, it’s understandable that rumors regarding the upcoming releases in the family are eagerly churned out. Which rumors about the Galaxy S10 are the loudest, and which are the most likely? Today we’re rounding up some of the rumors surrounding the upcoming Galaxy phone! 

    3D Facial Scan 

    Sources have reported that the newest Galaxy phone will forego the iris scanner in favor of a full 3D face scan. If that sounds familiar, it’s because that’s exactly what Apple’s Face ID is. Samsung seems to be gunning for its American rival with their newest phone. The rumors around this Samsung face scan indicate that if the technology isn’t ready by the time the Galaxy 10 is set to ship, it will continue to use the iris scanner instead.  

    In-Display Fingerprint Scanner 

    A feature that was supposed to be in the Galaxy S9, the in-display fingerprint scanner is rumored to be appearing in the S10. Chinese smartphone makers Vivo and Oppo have been pushing the limits on in-display scanners, and Samsung isn’t a company to be outdone. Interestingly, Apple chose to forego this avenue of technology altogether in favor of Face ID technology. Samsung, on the other hand, is pursuing both. While that may seem redundant, perhaps they’re looking to cover all potential bases.  

    No Phone Notch 

    Rumor has it that Samsung won’t follow the industry trend of the top phone notch. Instead, they’ll opt for very thin bezels on the top and bottom of the front display. The thin top bezel will house the camera, speaker and other technology that is usually housed in a phone notch. The presence of the bottom bezel is disappointing, but in leaked renders the phone still looks quite slick. However, if all these rumors are to be believed, Samsung might just have an iPhone X-killer on their hands. If they can deliver a phone with 3D facial scanning, an in-display scanner and a powerful processor, they’ll be poised to dethrone the iPhone.

    The Galaxy Note 9 is Samsung’s Ultimate cry for tech geek attention. It has all the specs, a gigantic, magnificent, Fortnite worthy screen, a Bluetooth-powered S Pen, and a headphone jack… you know just all the essentials on the checklist for the kind of Android user that Samsung is targeting with a Note update. It’s a Phablets lover’s dream come true, if it doesn’t kill you

    Who still remembers the terror Samsung bestowed amongst the world two years ago? Who remembers when the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 launched to much fanfare with ravastious acclimates from all. Shouting from the heavens this is sciences gift to man. A short while after the device made it into the worlds hands the batteries violently exploded it was seemed like a coordinated terrorist attack.

    Y’all remember when that happened? At the time, Samsung had initially responded with assurances that it was an isolated problem that it would handle on a case-by-case basis, but eventually realized the issue was beyond control. Eventually, it issued a full recall for all Note 7 devices around the world. That was two years ago, this is the Note 9 we are talking about today.

    Galaxy Note 9 puts powerful technology in the hands of the tech geeks and gamers who demand more powerful and more screen from their smartphones. It certainly boast Innovative features and design make it the only phone to keep up with the next generation of users. Yes the rumors we have been telling you are true. Packed with a huge battery, a massive screen, and a powerful stylus, the Note 9 has more of everything than any other phone on the US market.

    How does it look and feel

    It’s large, I mean this phone is obscenely large. And when you put it in a case, it will become a liability. This is not a one-handed phone for any but the largest hands. Samsung moved the fingerprint sensor so no longer will the Note 9 fit into Note 8 case. On the bright side no more inadvertently smudging the camera lens.

    The Galaxy Note 9 has a 6.4-inch quad HD Super AMOLED curved screen, and USB-C and standard headphone jacks, it is IP68 Waterproof. We have been through this, the checklist of required wants and needs are covered. Not only that but it is stunning, think Charlene Theron on the red carpet elegant.

    No 5g on The Galaxy Note 9

    We have talked about 5G coming next year, Don’t get hung up on that; it will be another year before 5G is widespread and before chipset makers work out the power-management kinks that come with new wireless data systems. Yes write that down you are hearing it here first. Next year’s Note 10 will be 5G. Wanna wait that long? Anyways, The existing X20 modem get speeds up to 700Mbps with the right carrier setup, showing there’s still plenty of room in 4G. That’ll do, That’ll do just fine.

    Sounds and Stuff

    The Note 9 brings the S9+’s dual speakers to the Note line. The two speakers are by the earpiece, and along the bottom. Compared to the previous Note 8’s single bottom speaker, the speakers here aren’t much louder but clarity and treble are off the charts. Outside of the iPhone X I don’t think I have heard a better device speaker.

    The Biggest Difference

    The Galaxy Note 9’s biggest upgrade is its enhanced and gargantuan 4,000mAh battery hit it with a 10-hour battery test video. Yes you know the one where I leave it on the10 hour loop of He-Man singing 4 non blondes “what’s going on”. Results, 13% left, astounding. This leads me into projecting screen-on battery life out to 12 and half hours. That Destroys all other flagship smartphone on the market. The battery is significantly larger than the one in the Galaxy S9+ (3,500mAh, 10+ hours), the Galaxy Note 8 (3,300mAh, 6 hours), or the Galaxy Note 5 (3,020mAh, 8 hours and 30 minutes).

    The Final Thought

    If this thing doesn’t explode in our face we have a monster here. The screen alone will improve your Fortnite results instantly giving you an unfair advantage over any other player on a regular smartphone. It’s the battery though, it’s just too good to be true. Add in their shaky past and it’s something to be weary off.

    Samsung announced a new version of its Samsung Chromebook Plus , titled the Chromebook Plus (V2) with an Intel Celeron processor and front and rear facing cameras. It will be available only from Best Buy and goes on sale June 24 starting at $499.99. Samsungs press release says “For those who use Chrome OS to do more on the go, the new light and thin Samsung Chromebook Plus (V2) sets the standard with front and rear cameras, built-in pen, and a more powerful processor”

     

    The Standard, Really Just Standard

    It looks like one thing Samsung got right for sure is the use of the word standard. This 2 in one is definitely that, standard. The 2-in-1 convertible is designed to help people get the most out of Chrome OS. Samsung has listed some highlight from the announcments..

    The laptop will use an Intel Celeron 3965Y processor (a change from the old Plus’ ARM processor, though the Chromebook Pro used an Intel Core M3). The “rear” camera, above the keyboard, for use in tablet mode, is a new addition. The laptop will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
    The Chromebook Plus (V2) has a 1920 x 1080 display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The previous model had a 3:2 aspect ratio with a 2400 x 1600 resolution. While an unexpected announcement, nothing unexpected here.

    The Final Thought

    This is just another mediocre Samsung device, put out by what is becoming the standard of a mediocre company. Samsung fails to innovate or at least manipulate someone eases innovation yet again. Uninspired, its just the Chromebook on the self if you need a Chromebook and you probably don’t.

    Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay; Which is the Best Virtual Wallet?

    Between Apple, Samsung and Google there are a ton of virtual wallet apps looking to power your transactions. Today we’ll break them down based on their strengths and weaknesses and tell you which one is our favorite! 

    Google Pay 

    Google Pay and Apple Pay have a lot in common. They both use NFC technology to broadcast information over short-range bands. This means the merchant you’re buying from needs to have an NFC-enabled card reader. While most modern businesses are equipped with standard NFC technology, some Mom and Pop places will be behind the curve on this. Google Pay also allows you to send money to other people, regardless of whether they use Android or iPhone. You can also use certain Android Wear watches to pay! 

    The downside to Google Pay, though, is that it only has one layer of authentication. One your phone is unlocked, Google Pay just works automatically. It doesn’t ask for a fingerprint or PIN, it just sends the transaction. This could be an issue for those who shop a lot online and are used to using the secondary authentication as confirmation that they’re about to actually spend money. The other drawback to Google Pay is that it isn’t as widely accepted online as Apple Pay, which is ubiquitous. 

    Samsung Pay 

    Samsung has an edge over the competition: magnetic secure transmission. Where Google and Apple both use NFC technology to broadcast info, Samsung can use MST to “trick” older machines. Card machines all read magnetic information, so Samsung Pay fools them into thinking a card has been swiped. This allows you to use e-pay even at vendors who aren’t explicitly set up for it. The Samsung Gear S3 also supports MST, if you’re a smartwatch fan. Samsung Pay, like Apple, does require a biometric scan or PIN to confirm purchases, which is good.  

    The drawbacks? Samsung has no peer-to-peer payment option, which is a bummer. It’s also only available on Samsung phones, making it the most limited of the three. It’s MST technology is pretty awesome, though. 

    Apple Pay 

    Apple Pay is the most widespread of the three as far as online support goes. It’s available only on iPhones, though. It uses NFC, like Google Pay. You can send peer-to-peer payments, but only to other iOS users with an Apple ID. You can also use an Apple Watch to pay if you don’t want to go digging in your pockets for your phone at checkout. It uses either a fingerprint scan or Face ID to authenticate purchases.  

    The drawbacks here are the lack of MST and the Apple-only peer-to-peer.  

    Which Virtual Wallet is the Best? 

    Turns out, they’re pretty evenly matched. Apple has a slight edge over Google with its authentication and ubiquity, but Google has peer-to-peer payments with anyone. While Samsung has no peer-to-peer payments, it does have MST, which is critical in certain cities with less high-tech merchants. The bottom line is that they are all fine and shouldn’t influence your decision to buy a phone. Unless, of course, you intend to replace your real wallet with you virtual one. In that case, I would have to recommend Samsung, as it works with the widest variety of card readers.

    Samsung vs. Apple Ruling: What this Means for the Future of Smartphone Design

    The long-running and high-profile court case between Samsung and Apple has finally wound down. The verdict? Samsung is to pay $539 million to Apple for infringed patents. That’s a lot of money, but not quite the billion dollars Apple claimed it was owed. The final number is, however, markedly higher than Samsung’s conservative estimate of $28 million in damages owed to Apple. What will this decision mean in the long run with regards to smartphone design?

    Apple: Design First 

    Apple fought tooth and nail in this suit. The company has always maintained that they are a design-first firm. To that end, they were adamant in their assertion that Samsung’s infringement of their design patents constituted significant damages. The nitty-gritty of the case got pretty obscure, but here’s the broad strokes. Apple had patents for a rectangular-face, round-cornered smart phone (with and without bezels.) They also had a patent of a colorful grid of apps. 

    Samsung’s phones sold between 2010 and 2011, Apple argued, infringed on these patents. The courts found in Apple’s favor, but things didn’t end there. The issue came down to the difference between the individual phone components versus the phone as a whole. Apple claimed that Samsung owed damaged based on the sales of each entire phone they sold. Samsung, however, claimed that they only owed damages on the components Apple had patents for. 

    Samsung’s Point of View 

    Samsung argued that Apple only had patents on certain aspects of the phone designs they had sold in the timeframe of 2010-2011. They felt as though the damages they would need to pay should reflect this, as well as deducting the cost of business for marketing and designing said phones. While their points were well-made in some respects the jury found them unconvincing.  

    The jury found that the display screen couldn’t be considered a separate entity from the phone. How could it? The bulk of the smart phone is its screen, and the screen hardly works without the phone components. If one were to disassemble a smart phone, they would have nothing of real practical use. Samsung’s argument would work better in a case with bigger, more distinct components. The screen, however, was found to be an integral part of the phone. 

    What This Means for Smartphone Design 

    The huge fine slapped on Samsung will certainly give manufacturers pause with regards to smartphone design. Apple’s patents are somewhat broad, though in some ways they can be seen as fair. Apple did kick off the modern smartphone, after all, so isn’t it only fair they hold these patents? The other side of that coin, of course, is a concern for monopolization. If Apple can defend a patent this broad in court, smaller competitors may well be swallowed whole by them.  

    Samsung will feel the sting of this ruling, but they won’t be going away anytime soon. The Korean tech giant is worth billions, and they can afford to go toe-to-toe with Apple in court. Smaller underdogs wouldn’t stand a chance, though. This case has left an odd taste in the mouths of onlookers. Many are happy to see creative design defended by a federal court. Many of those same people are also wary of a giant like Apple tightening its chokehold on the smartphone market.

    Samsung is a huge name in the world of Android phones. And that’s no mistake: the Galaxy series of course phones has been, with some exceptions, phenomenal. Whats next for the storied brand? The Galaxy Note 9. So, let’s break it down: what’s in store for the next Samsung phablet? The rumor mill is here to help fill us in. 

    In Screen Fingerprint Scanner? 

    This rumor has gone back and forth a ton. Whether it’s true or not, it would make sense. Phone makers the world over are trying to maximize screen space without making the handset too massive. This is what led to the infamous iPhone X notch.
    That said, a purported in-screen fingerprint scanner would be an interesting solution. Just how such a thing might work is anyone’s guess. 

    Note 9: Better Speakers than the Note 8? 

    The Note 8 was a great phone… except it’s speakers. It would be fantastic if the rumors of the Note 9’s speakers came true. Huge, front-facing speakers would be great. Considering how massive the Note line is, it’s underwhelming to think of them as having small sound. 

    Battery Life 

    The rumors that the phone will have an in-screen fingerprint scanner also claimed the phone will have an enormous battery. The battery rumored would be a 3,850mAh battery. In plain terms, that’s freaking huge compared to the battery in the Note 8.
    With such a huge screen and the purported sound quality, a huge battery is a must. Why even have such a massive phone if it’s going to just die soon after it’s pulled from the charger? 

    Pricing 

    Samsung would be wise to keep the price around the same place that the Note 8 launched. Even though the Note 9 is likely to be one of the most high-tech phones of the year, it still has to compete with the iPhone X. A price point around $950 seems to be a sweet spot.

    Samsung ArtPC PULSE is trying to redefine the design of computers like Apple has already done. This computer is impeccably slim and exquisitely  premium. The Samsung ArtPC PULSE is built with full metal in a cylindrical form factor. This is actually the second computer you want to place at the center of your space.

    The Conclusion

    The desktop PC is undergoing a renaissance, with designs that beg to be showcased in a living room or creative space. Samsung is joining HP as they mock what Apple does best. Think outside the box and innovate. It’s a distant 3rd in a playing field of 3.

     

    The ArtPC draws immediate comparison to Apple’s machined Mac Pro. With an aluminum build, integrated 360-degree speakers tuned by Harman Kardon— an audio and electronics brand that Samsung is in the process of acquiring— and a modular, expandable design, the ArtPC’s aesthetic is divisive. Part minimalist metal and fully utilitarian, the ArtPC Pulse invites comparisons from passersby to my desk to anything from a futuristic space capsule to Oscar the Grouch’s trash can abode.

     

    Give Us The Deats

    The small, cylindrical shape of the desktop machine is quite innovative and attractive. It looks magnificent sitting on a table top with a lighting band proving to be a striking contrast against its full metal, black body. It is equipped with a brilliant and fast working processor. The Radeon Rx graphics card ensures that the graphics you view on your screen are always impeccable. One of its greatest features the way it is engineered. You can twist and turn and remove storage whenever you do not need it, and fix the module back on whenever you do need it.

     

    The Sound And Design

    Harman Kardon 360 degree Speakers are the best part about the Samsung ArtPC. They are crisp clean and booming. I’ve always found sound quality lacking in computers and it’s nice to see Samsung up the game. This shows that PC manufacturers are teaming up with the best sound system providers to give users good audio systems alongside powerful PCs

     

    The design is fairly minimal in design and measures 5.51 x 5.51 x 12.18 inches (13.9 x 13.9 x 30.9 cm) and uses the single central fan concept. It’s pretty but it’s not as stunningly elegant as the Mac Pro.

     

    There is one more interesting and innovative design of the Samsung ArtPC PULSE. This Computer allows you to attach and detach more storage whenever you need. Position the HDD unit and spin to click and easily add more storage. Think easily stackable hard drives. Kinda cool.

    Samsung is opening up a new device that will add a whole new level of smartphones. Samsung’s DeX Pad allows its smartphones to become minicomputers when they’re hooked up to the device. Connecting a smartphone to the dock allows the user to see the screen of the phone projected onto a monitor.The new Samsung DeX Pad that transforms newer Galaxy phones into a desktop-like virtualization tool is available for pre-order in the US, Samsung announced today.

    Samsung announced that it would be releasing the DeX Pad in the U.S. on May 13 for the price of $99.99. This new device was revealed back in February during the debut of the Samsung Galaxy S9. When a smartphone is connected to the dock, the phone’s screen can be seen on a much larger monitor.

    How to get a DeX Pad for free

    The new Samsung DeX Pad is like having “a secret Chromebook hidden in your phone.” But not everyone will be willing to pay for this extra.
