  • Iron Fist Season 2 Set to Redeem Danny Rand

Iron Fist Season 2 Set to Redeem Danny Rand

A new trailer for Iron Fist season 2 is upon us, and man does it look sweet. Marvel’s (second) coolest martial artist Danny Rand debuted in 2017 with a lackluster standalone series. (Shang-Chi, the Master of Kung Fu, is the coolest, in case you didn’t know.) Notable show-killer Scott Buck (who also killed Dexter and Inhumans) helmed that train-wreck. The first season of Iron Fist was remarkable for focusing more on boardroom politics than kung fu. While Iron Fist is a fun, breezy character who beats up ninjas, his first season was more whining and talking about stocks. Thankfully, Buck’s been shown the door and it looks like Danny is back on track.

    Rand’s Redemption

Danny was downright insufferable in the first season of Iron Fist, but he’s been getting steadily better with each appearance. In Defenders, his character was forced to undergo growth at the hands of a competent narrative, and Finn Jones had a chance to flex his acting chops. Then, again, in Luke Cage’s second season Rand made another appearance. Harking back to his excellent co-headlining of Heroes for Hire with Luke in the 70’s, this appearance excited us for his second season. So, now that the trailer is here, how’s it looking?

    Iron Fist Season 2

In short, it’s looking pretty sweet. One of the main complaints about the first season was the lack of impactful martial arts sequences in a show about kung fu. Thankfully, there seems to be ample ass-kicking going around in the trailer, and we couldn’t be happier. Following his departure in Season 1, Davos returns as primary antagonist Steel Serpent. The trailer seems to show us that Davos has a power much like the Iron Fist’s, channeling some red energy into his hand.

Danny’s fights with Davos in the trailer seem fast-paced, brutal and kinetic. Pretty much everything that the first season wasn’t, to be honest. We’re cautiously optimistic about this season from what we’ve seen so far. With Scott Buck off the show and expectations high, it’s on this season to bring the heat. Iron Fist Season 2 drops September 7th on Netflix.

  • Top Ten Villains We Want to See in the MCU

Top Ten Villains We Want to See in the MCU

Thanos is a tough act to follow, to be quite honest. However, he’s hardly the most iconic or awesome villain to appear in Marvel Comics. After the Avengers handle Thanos and his big purple chin, we’re excited to see who they tackle next. Here are the top ten villains we want to see in the MCU, in order of least to most likely to appear. Let’s talk villainy!

Top Ten Villains We Want to See in the MCU

    Mephisto

The Marvel Universe’s analogue to Satan, Mephisto is the supreme demon lord of a Hell-like realm. In the comics he’s responsible for granting Ghost Rider his supernatural powers. As it turns out, Ghost Rider, in the form of Robbie Reyes, has already made an appearance in the MCU. He was the main focus of a season of Agents of SHIELD, complete with his signature hellfire and chain whip weapon. As such, it’s not impossible that we could see Mephisto in a future film, maybe as an antagonist for Dr. Strange!

    The Mandarin

Tony Stark’s most persistent archenemy, the Mandarin is a supernaturally powerful criminal mastermind. He was invoked in Iron Man 3 but turned out to be a bait-and-switch. However, in the All Hail the King one-shot we find out that the real Mandarin is still out there. We’d love to see the mastermind in action, but he will likely not be opposing Tony, considering RDJ seems to be hanging up the armor after Avengers 4.

    The Elders of the Universe

A fantastic choice of antagonist for the combined forces of the Guardians and Avengers, the Elders of the Universe have already been teased. The Collector is actually one of the Elders, ancient beings of cosmic power and significance. They are often pitted against the combined might of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Particularly, the super-strong Champion of the Universe would be an excellent villain to face off with the Hulk or Thor in a later film.

    Molecule Man

Molecule Man is a super-powerful villain with an unhinged mind and limitless control of atoms. He is godlike in power and is often critical in world-ending crossovers in the comics. Notably, he appears in all Secret Wars events, whenever the world is critically threatened. In the 2015 event, he was responsible for the creation of the patchwork planet Battleworld that served as home to the surviving Marvel characters. If the MCU ever does a take on Secret Wars, Molecule Man will certainly appear as a villain.

    Kang the Conqueror

A classic Avengers foe, Kang the Conqueror is a time-traveling warlord from far in the future. He is seeking to subjugate the modern era by overpowering the Avengers. He often attempts to use his knowledge of future events to his benefit. However, he is consistently bested by the Avengers. If only he could see that coming!

    Dr. Doom

Now that the Fantastic Four have been reacquired by Marvel Studios, we’ll certainly be seeing Dr. Doom. The archenemy of the FF, Victor von Doom is a force to be reckoned with. He’s not only an accomplished mystic and gifted scientist, he also has body armor like Tony Stark’s. Doctor Doom is every bit the antagonist to pull together the Fantastic Four in an MCU revival. We look forward to seeing what Marvel Studios will do with this iconic villain!

    The Magus

Adam Warlock has been teased to be appearing in the next Guardians film. If this is the case, it seems likely that the Magus won’t be far behind. A dark doppleganger of the heroic Warlock, the Magus is a consistent cosmic foe in Marvel Comics. He would make an excellent villain to challenge the Guardians, and perhaps even rope in the Nova Corps. Depending on Captain Marvel’s role in the MCU, we could even see Alpha Flight. A Guardians of the Galaxy and Alpha Flight team-up to oppose the Magus is quintessential Cosmic Marvel.

    The Beyonder

As his name suggests, the Beyonder is a mega-powerful entity from beyond the known universe. Sporting stylish curls and unchecked egomania, he seeks to see the heroes fight for his amusement. He later takes on a human form and is defeated by the heroes. Jut like Molecule Man, if the MCU seeks to do a Secret Wars retelling, we’re sure to see the Beyonder. After all, who doesn’t want to see the various heroes of the MCU duke it out?

    Annihilus

Annihilus is an odd-looking bug monster from a negative dimension who wants to destroy our world. Do you need to know more? He’s as quintessential a villain as you can get for the heroes of Earth to fight. Maybe he’s not quite as nuanced or emotionally deep as Thanos, but damn if he isn’t cool. Although, if the writers could rework Thanos into a calculated megalomaniac, they could certainly give Annihilus some pathos. He’s a shoe-in to appear as the MCU does more cosmic stories. After all, the best cosmic Marvel story is Annihilation. As the name suggests, Annihilus is the main bad guy in that one!

    Galactus

The supermassive devourer of worlds was originally a Fantastic Four villain, but he’s a threat to Earth as a whole. If you’ve never heard of him, here’s the rundown. He’s a titanic, cosmic being who must devour planets for sustenance. He sends his herald, the Silver Surfer, ahead of him to warn of his coming. Galactus is fascinating as he’s not explicitly evil, per se, he’s just hungry. He must devour planets in order to sustain himself, and he’s coming to Earth. He would make a fantastic follow-up to Thanos, and a great way to bring together the Fantastic Four, Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.

  • The New 5G Network Will Evolve the World Part 5

The New 5G Network Will Evolve the World Part 5

Wow what a week it has been, we found out a lot about this new 5g network. You now know we are on the cusp of the next big jump in human evolution. We know now how, where, when, who and why of the new 5G Network. Yes, we open Pandora’s box and now our fall down the rabbit hole is reaching an abrupt end. So what is next? Next? The future of the new 5G network.

In this 5th part of the 5 part break down we are going to take a Snow-white like look into our futures. 5G connectivity is coming, and faster then you would expect. We know when and we know what it can do, and where it will take us. Let’s talk about the real fun stuff, where we will take the new 5G Network. Here is the 3 big theoretical things we will discuss and try to grasp as we think of what we can do with this extreme capabilities. Time Travel, Space travel, and Medical operations/Cyborgs.

    Space Travel

First up Space travel, This is already In place. NASA’s Ames Research Center is teaming with the often sinister-sounding Machine-to-Machine Intelligence Corporation (m2mi) to create a global networking system using small satellites they call “nanosats.” The organizations say their nanosats will be developed with a fifth generation (or 5G) communication system — which includes VoIP, video, data, and wireless transmissions. This will in increase the data and earth bound communications of vessel ships that we send for colonization. Keeping in contact with earth will be crucial to the survival and thrival of exploration colonies.

Elon Musk, Yes!, Elon Musk has been batting around the idea of a “space internet” for years, initially proposing it as a way to connect SpaceX’s Martian colonists. In the near-term, the system can be adapted to deliver easy, continuous access to base stations around Earth, providing simple connectivity to the planet’s most remote communities. A proposal filed in November shows how the system would actually work: 4,425 satellites in non-geostationary orbit traveling in a tightly choreographed ballet 700 miles above the surface of the Earth, keeping at least one satellite 40 degrees above the horizon at nearly every spot on Earth. This is set for implementation with the new 5G network.

The big take away here is that we are already working with the new 5G network in space, when we get this tech and connectivity in the hands of the next generation they are going to find ways to take us further, faster and deeper in to space then we can comprehend. Not to mention the first Hotel in space will provide WiFi via the 5G network.

Cyborgs On the New 5G Network

With super-efficient, super-fast technology like 5G, wearables should start to take on a whole new role in our lives. Large batteries will be a thing of the past and it’s a good thing too, this will power cybernetic human components. The idea of a cyborg — a human-machine hybrid — is common in science fiction and although the term dates back to the 1960s it still generates a lot of curiosity. Our merger with machines is already happening. We replace hips and other parts of our bodies with titanium and steel parts. More than 50 000 people have tiny computers surgically implanted in their heads with direct neural connections to their cochleas to enable them to hear. In the testing stage, there are retina microchips to restore vision and motor implants to give quadriplegics the ability to control computers with thought. Robotic prosthetic legs, arms, and hands are becoming more sophisticated.

The dawn is approaching and that day will bring human enhancements not just medical replacements. We will see people upgraded perfectly working eyes and ears for cyberneticly enhanced options. At some point it will be beneficial for human to have artificial enhancements, leaving un enhanced humans inferior to their upgraded counterparts. See the extinction of Homo- Neanderthals if you need to know what happens next. It will not take 1000s of years this time, I would say 3-4 generations.

    Time Travel

Time travel — moving between different points in time — has been a popular topic for science fiction for decades. Not all scientists believe that time travel is possible. Some even say that an attempt would be fatal to any human who chooses to undertake it. General relativity also provides scenarios that could allow travelers to go back in time, according to NASA anyways.

The equations, however, might be difficult to physically achieve, especially with the limits of our computer and networking power. While time travel does not appear possible — at least, possible in the sense that the humans would survive it — with the physics that we use today, the field is constantly changing. However if you take the advances in quantum theory and extrapolate the vast capabilities of the new 5G network some kid somewhere trying to power his next gen Xbox will make a huge time paradox discovery that will baffle and change and evolve the world forever. Yes there is it, The new 5G network will evolve the world.

Top Ten Reasons to be Hyped for Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Super Smash Bros Ultimate comes out on December 7th, 2018. It will absolutely be the best game of the year and everyone who is even passingly interested in video games is excited. If you’ve been checked out of gaming news recently, you might be a bit confused as to why everyone is so excited about this game. Well, allow us to bring you up to speed. These are the top ten reasons to be hyped for Super Smash Bros Ultimate!

Top Ten Reasons to be Hyped for Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Limited Edition Has a GameCube Controller

The limited edition of Smash Bros Ultimate will come bundled with a GameCube controller and an adapter to connect it to your Switch. Given that the 2001 entry, Melee, was one of the biggest games of all time, it makes sense that many consider the GameCube controller to be the true controller for Smash Bros. It’s good to see that this trend will continue with what’s shaping up to be the definitive version of Smash.

    Tons of Assist Trophies

There are tons and tons of Assist Trophies this time around.  Everyone from Waluigi to Grey Fox to Shovel Knight has been confirmed to appear as Assists this time around. While many are sad to see these characters aren’t playable fighters, this is still awesome news. It’s better to have them in the game than not, so we’ll take all the Assist Trophies we can get!

    Pokémon for Days

Pokéballs, similar in function to Assist Trophies, have been overhauled with tons of new Pokémon this time around. New creatures from Sun and Moon will be making their first Smash appearances, as well Alola versions of several Kanto Pokémon. We always love to see more support for this awesome series!

    The First Monster Hunter Crossover

Rathalos, one of the biggest bads from the Monster Hunter series, is appearing in this game. He’ll be both an Assist Trophy and Stage Boss. Not only is he the first character to be both of these things, he’s also the first MH representative in Smash! We’re not likely to see any fighters repping the series, but it’s still cool to see it featured in such a big way.

    Stages upon Stages

Speaking of Stages, there are a ton of new and returning stages this time around. The most recent Direct confirmed that there are over 100 stages in the game! That’s not even counting that every stage can be converted into two stripped-down versions. There will even be a feature that allows the match to transfer from one stage to another in the middle of the match! If you ever found yourself bored of the stage selection in the previous entries, that likely won’t be happening this time around.

    The Music

Music has always been a huge focus of the Smash series, as it tries to function as a living love letter to video games. This time is no exception: there are going to be over 900 unique songs from all the series represented. If you’re even a passing fan of some of these series, you’ll appreciate how deep the soundtrack here is. Between the rearrangements and remasters, this is likely the most complete repository of classic video game music in history.

    The Trophies

Speaking of Smash Bros functioning as a Nintendo encyclopedia, we’re hyped as always for the trophies. Trophies serve two purposes: the first is as collectible 3D renders of thousands of Nintendo characters. The second is as encyclopedia-style entries explaining each character’s place in their respective series. If you’re interested in digging deep into the lore of these older series, this is the feature for you.

    Multiplayer Options A-Plenty

The most recent Direct also confirmed the incredibly deep multiplayer options on offer this time around. If you’ve ever spent hours at a time on the couch with friends just playing Smash, this should have you excited. Everything from stamina battles to wacky rules like extra gravity and double-speed are available. Interestingly, there is also the option to redefine what the default rules are. If your group prefers 3-stock battles with a 4-minute time limit, you can set that as the default. For those who plan to spend hundreds of hours in the multiplayer suite, this is the best possible news.

    Everyone is Here

Nintendo lit the internet on fire when they announced that every single character to ever appear in Smash was coming back for this outing. That means oft-requested characters that appeared once, like Snake and Wolf, were brought back into the fold. Even better, it means that all of the DLC characters from Smash 4 are in the roster. Bayonetta, Ryu, Cloud and more are all fan-favorites and it’s amazing to see them all under one roof. There’s no way they could have had room to squeeze in more characters, right?

Wrong, they also threw in Ridley for good measure. Everyone was dying for Samus’ rival to be added as a fighter, and Nintendo delivered. Not to mention, the Inklings from Splatoon are new playable fighters. Also, they threw in Daisy as an Echo Fighter of Peach just for the fun of it. But there’s no way there could be anyone else in the game, right?

    Everyone Else is Also Here

No, they squeezed even more characters in. The most recent Direct also confirmed the much-requested Simon Belmont would be joining the roster, as would his descendant, Richter Belmont. If that wasn’t awesome enough, the ever-menacing Dark Samus got added to the huge fighter pool. Continuing the theme of villains joining to harry the heroes, Donkey Kong’s archnemesis King K. Rool has also joined the fight.

All this, and we’re still four months from the game’s launch! Who knows what other characters might be announced before December? Frankly, we couldn’t be more excited for this game. We will absolutely be standing in line to get it the very instant it releases. We hope to see you there!

  • Tech Throwback: Nokia 5100 Series

    Tech Throwback: Nokia 5100 Series

Its that time of the week I like to take a look at where I’ve been to evaluate where Im going. Technology is cyclical after all… wait no its not. That said I still like all the feels that come rushing back like a flood of nostalgia every time I get my hand on the tech I grew up with. I’m going to go back periodically and take a looking at the stuff that used to blow our hair back and get our minds rolling. Some of these device blew up and changed the world, some where ahead of their time and some just fell flat and became colossal failures. A stroll down memory lane with the phone everyone and everyone’s mom had. The Nokia 5100 series

    The Original Nokia 5100 Series

Nokia 5100 Series is a Nokia GSM mobile phone model that was consuming the US market in 1998.  The main culprit of this explosion of tech was The Nokia 5110 was rugged, had excellent battery life, and featured an 84 by 48 pixel monochrome LCD with four LED back lights, operated by the Philips PCD8544 display controller.  This was also one of the first mobile phones to feature the game Snake. It became one of the most popular phones of its era. The Nokia 5110 was discontinued in 2001, replaced by other smaller and lighter device

    It Was Free!

The big reason for the massive success of this Nokia 5100 series is the fact the carriers where forcing down out throats for free, or $.01 with a 2 year contract. Great right? will not so much the $250 subsidy cost built in to the cost of your plan at $25 a month was hardly a good deal. We didn’t care, everyone had one and everyone else was envious.

    Customization of  Faceplates

The Nokia 5100 series was one of the first mobile telephones with a replaceable faceplate. Nokia called them “express plates” . This was a concept they incorporated into several other consumer-oriented cellphones aimed at the young adult market, allowing users to customize their device. I was big on this, I was the guy that would “pimp out your phone”. People across town would pay me to make their phones “da bomb”. With about $3 in parts from china I could replace your phones face plate with a glow in the dark face, add a light up led antenna and a vibrating clear battery and add a few of the hottest ringtones. It was all the rage of 1999- 2001 and I would charge up to $50 for this service. It was a new century and I was flush with success.

    The Final Though

Basic as fudge. Nokia 5100 series, It’s the original basic. Text was a coming soon feature, it could call and program up to 50 numbers in your phone book that is it. Not only could you make or receive a call anywhere you are but because of its success and desirable price point every one could. Thus the cell generation was born and like that answering machines died over night. Tune in next week when we talk about the tape based answering machine.

  • The Best Sci-Fi Horror Movies of All Time

The Best Sci-Fi Horror Movies of All Time

Sci-fi, as a genre, is very useful for probing to the depths of the human mind. It can be useful as a lens through which to critique and comment on our society and our humanity. When applied in the right ways, it can also be very effective at scaring the daylights out of us. Combining the high-tech with the hair-raising, these are the best sci-fi horror movies of all time!

The Best Sci-Fi Horror Movies of All Time

    Frankenstein

Likely the first tale ever told that could be considered sci-fi horror, Frankenstein is an unsettling tale of madness and genius. You know the story: Dr. Frankenstein digs up corpses, hacks off the choicest bits and stitches them all back together. Then, he gives the resulting monster life through the power of science and a terrible storm. This film is effective nearly 90 years after it was created due to the lasting horror of its premise. A genius who has used his intellect to go beyond the values of common morality is a timeless archetype. This story reminds us to not let our push to innovate cause us to leave our humanity in the past.

    Cloverfield

Part Godzilla, part Blair Witch Project, this found-footage thriller follows a group of young adults as a terrifying monster rampages through New York. The shaky-cam style of shooting may be a bit motion-sickness inducing, but the film upsets through more than its cinematography. Well-acted and genuinely scary, this is a great example of how to make monster movies scary.

    Videodrome

It’s impossible to talk about sci-fi horror without mentioning David Cronenberg. This iconic work solidified Cronenberg’s uniquely unsettling eye for grotesque body horror. The film follows Max Renn, a TV producer played by James Woods. The station Max works for is looking for a new type of programming, and they intercept a signal of a brutal program called Videodrome. In the show, people are tortured and killed for entertainment. As Max digs into the odd broadcast, things take a turn for the surreal.

    Sunshine

Equal parts sci-fi exploration and bone-chilling slasher film, Sunshine expertly weaves the two genres together. Rather than feeling unwieldy with its dual influences, it deftly excites and provokes thought by playing the two genres off one another. The immediate horror of a crew of astronauts being hunted by a deranged killer is gripping. However, the stakes make the action that much more intense. If the crew fails in their mission, the Sun will die, and Earth will freeze. As such, the action is both immediately pressing and of monumental significance for the human race.

    I am Legend

Will Smith stars in this brutal post-apocalyptic horror film. The only apparent survivor of some man-made disease, Smith’s character attempts to survive in the mutant-strewn wasteland that the world has become. While evading mutants and scavenging for food he also attempts to synthesize a cure for the strange disease. As psychologically gripping as it is scary, I am Legend is a distinctly unique and engaging film.

    Event Horizon

Theorizing that Hell is simply another dimension adjacent to our own, Event Horizon brings ample scares from its otherworldly premise. When a strange ship appears in the Solar System, a crew of explorers travels inside to learn more about its origins. However, they quickly find that the ship’s previous crew are all dead. Logs on the ship show that they somehow entered Hell using the ship’s experimental engines. The explorers find their minds and bodies twisted and broken by the horrible things waiting within the Event Horizon.

    28 Days Later

Photo Credit: Movies and TV Stack Exchange

Normally, the zombies in these types of movies shamble toward you aimlessly. In this film, they sprint towards you like horrifying rabid dogs. Oh, and they’re not zombies, technically, because they’re still alive. That’s why they’re so fast. Beautifully shot, well-acted and expertly-told, 28 Days Later is a deep introspection into the psychology of living in a world after humanity has vanished. Surprisingly realistic and delightfully deep, this is a movie you need to watch.

    The Fly

This Kafkaesque tale is another from Cronenberg. The Fly stars Jeff Goldblum as scientist Seth Brundle. Brundle experiments with molecular transportation, and a lab accident results in his atoms being entangled with those of a fly. He begins to exhibit more insect-like characteristics and gradually devolves into a grotesque monster. This film is notable for bringing Cronenberg’s unique style of body horror to mainstream attention. Gross, gripping and thought-provoking, this is quintessential Cronenberg.

    The Thing

John Carpenter’s remake of the classic film The Thing is an utterly unsettling film. The film depicts the struggles of a group of scientists to survive while being hunted by a shapeshifting monster. Set in Antarctica, the film’s lonely isolation is its strongest theme. One after the other, the scientists are killed by the Thing, only for it to take their form and pretend to be them. The audiences watches as the scientists slowly begin to doubt one another and lose their sanity in the process.

    Alien

The very finest sci-fi horror film ever made, Alien is iconic for all the right reasons. Starring Sigourney Weaver as the ever-badass Ripley, this movie was huge at the time of its release. Focusing on the isolation and fear that comes with being in space, the film works on many levels. As visceral as it is psychological, Alien is a prime example of how to make a good horror film. Direct Ridley Scott expertly avoided clichés that would have otherwise marred the excellent movie. If you haven’t seen it, you owe it to yourself to check this classic out.

If you like marbles and big, flashy centerpieces, this game is for you. Players take the role of scientists trying to build perpetual energy machines. The marbles represent energy, and they’re dropped from a large central dispenser. Players are encouraged to create massive, sprawling chains of ridiculous combos. Essentially, everyone is trying to build a better Rube-Goldberg Machine. Who doesn’t love being a mad scientist?

    Arkham Horror Third Edition

Believe it or not, the version of Arkham Horror released in 2005 was the second edition of the game. We didn’t even know that, and we love board games! However, Fantasy Flight Games seems poised to recapture the imaginations of Cthulhu fans the world over. The original scary, deadly board game in the Lovecraft mythos is here to try to kill you and your friends. Bad news, gang: it’ll probably succeed. You’ll need cunning and guts in equal measure to have any chance of surviving encounters with the Eldritch cults at play in this gripping game.

    Reef

Reef is a fun, family-style game that encourages planning ahead and rewards tactical moves. You spend your turn either drawing a card or playing a card. When you play a card, you get to place a piece of plastic coral depicted on that card. If you create the pattern on the bottom on the card with that placement, you score points. Whoever has the most points at the end wins! The game is deceptively simple and often leads to players having tough decisions and trade-offs. It’s the perfect balance of approachable and deep, just like a real reef!

    Coimbra

If you’re a fan of mechanics-heavy Eurogames, you’re probably accustomed to bland-looking boxes with emphasis on mechanics over appearance. Coimbra is here to scratch that mechanics-heavy itch while still looking good. The game is colorful and gorgeous, bucking the trend of ugly Eurogames. The mechanics are up to snuff, though, and the game is a fun, cerebral experience. Drafting dice and characters to gain influence is fun and thought-provoking. Every action has consequences, and only the most cunning players will come out on top.

    Arboretum

While this game technically released in 2015, it wasn’t very easy to pick up. For most people, this Gen Con was the first time they even saw the game in person. This game is an interesting contradiction: it appears beautiful and serene by its components. Or, its component: it’s composed of one 80 card deck. The gameplay, however, is brutal and intense. You’re trying to build a pretty path of trees from the ten suites of numbered cards. Managing your paths is complicated by the fact that your opponents can draw from your discard pile. As such, hand management and knowledge of your opponents’ game plans is critical.

    Root

This wargame is asymmetrical and themed on woodland creatures. The artwork is gorgeous, and the concept is intriguing. The woodland map is home to a battle between four distinct factions of critters. Each faction has different goals, abilities and mechanics. Many who played Root at Gen Con described the game as four games that share a box. Depending on your faction, the way you interact with the game changes dramatically. The Cat faction, for instance, wins by building structures. The rebellious Woodland Alliance, however, wins by drumming up support to overthrow the kitty overlords.

    Expancity

Expancity is a game about building a city. The buildings are represented by stacking plastic pieces that look like towering skyscrapers. As the game goes on, your city begins to develop a unique skyline and structure. You’re attempting to achieve goals, some known to the table and some secret to you. Zoning is important, and buildings that are nearby can affect your score, negative or positive. You build while your opponents try to achieve their own goals, so the counter-play opportunities are plentiful. If you love strategically disrupting your opponents, this is a game to watch for!

    Nyctophobia

In an interesting twist, this new game has you play completely blind. That’s right, in this game, the players take the role of victims lost in a dark forest being stalked by a murderer. In order to survive, they need to find their way to a car and radio for help. Players wear blackout shades that completely obscure their vision and they have to use their sense of touch to navigate the maze. One player takes the role of murderer and keeps the action tense by harrying the victims. This interesting game really shows off how creative board games can be!

    Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions

A new game from Lightseekers creator PlayFusion, this game is set in the Age of Sigmar fantasy universe. The gameplay is straightforward: you use your unit and spell cards to try to reduce your opponent to zero hit points. You have four champions that give you powerful skills, as does your opponent. Smart timing is critical to victory. The game is also interesting for the same reason Lightseekers caught attention: every card can be scanned into the game’s app to be used in online play. As such, each physical card is also a digital card. That way, you can always use your collection to find a game and kick some butt!

    Keyforge

Created by Magic the Gathering’s creator Richard Garfield, Keyforge is something exciting. Easily our favorite game on display this year, Keyforge is a procedurally generated card game. When you buy a pack of this game, that pack is a fully-functional deck. It is also completely unique to you in every way. The cardback is unique to you, as are the cards and combinations in the deck. And you can’t change your cards out, at all. This is your deck now.

If that’s not enough to excite you, the game’s unique mechanics will. You’re trying to acquire a resource called Amber in order to Forge Keys. The first player to Forge three Keys wins the game. We’re looking forward to seeing how this one from Garfield shapes up. Considering one of his games created the CCG model, we’re sure he’s got something going here.

5G Speed will Evolve the World Part 3

So your are back for part 3 of our 5G in 5 parts. Its good to see you again. Just to refresh,  We are talking all things 5G and the evolution it will bring.  5G speed connectivity is the mutation of the 21st century and we make major advances in human civilization with each connectivity advancement we establish. With 4g and LTE we created the IOT and changed existence forever in every possible way. Now 5G speed will launch us to a new world.

Over the next past days we, as in you and I, have been indulging in to the next generation of mobile internet connections and what it will mean for out daily lives, what we can expect, who and where this will come from and what we can make of all of this. In this 5 part break down we are going to take a Snow-white like look into our futures. 5G connectivity is coming, and faster then you would expect. Just to put this in to a scope of things, Cyborgs will run on 5G Connectivity. Excited yet? Well you should be because today we talk about the stuff we will do with this new spectrum of reality.

The 5G wireless standard will deliver a unifying connectivity fabric that will bring huge enhancements to today’s mobile broadband services, expand mobile networks to support a vast diversity of devices and services, and revolutionize the Internet of Things (IoT) making there a ton of 5G use cases.

Some popular 5G use cases are coming into focus as we approach 2020 (the year 5G networks are expected to be unleashed). The following are the most talked-about 5G use cases, focusing mainly on the broader categories of connected services.

    Smart Vehicles – Connected Cars

A lot of focus is to provide autonomous driving experience. Companies like Apple, Google, Volvo and Uber are putting a lot of efforts to develop connected cars and other smart vehicles. 5G will be integral in providing the network for our self driving cars and transportation of the future. If we want to move everyone around at high speeds autonomously we will require a high speed network. 5G Speed.

    Media Everywhere

Media is the single most reason for massive increase in mobile broadband demand from last few years. We want to be entertained in extremely high quality content and 5G will have the capability to provide Live TV, On-demand video streaming, gaming. The requirement is to provide media in 4K, 8K, HDR and HFR quality. This is will require…yep 5G Speed.

    Critical Control of Remote Devices

The future is automation of everything. One of the use case for 5G is to provide better connectivity to heavy machinery, smart-grids and remote surgeries. The beneficiaries will be manufacturing, mining and healthcare industries. Yes this is the Cyborgs we were talking about, and don’t think people you know wont be Cyborgs. Your mom will need and extensive network with 5G speeds to get full use of her cybernetic hip and knee replacements.

5G Speed and the Human Internet of Things

Though IoT is all about connecting things, human play a big role in it. For example, your fitness band which tracks all your activity. The main areas where 5G will make a difference are: augmented reality (AR), gaming, tracking, surveillance, smart-homes, smart-postage. Just think of the possibilities, free roam open world virtual reality limited by only our own imagination.

    Part Three Final Thought

There was an underlying theme with the main areas 5G will impact. did you see it? Speed, 5G Speed, We need it. Its important, its inherent and there is nothing we can do about it. These are all the practical and inevitable applications and use cases for our glorious new network. When these applications hit the next generation of children this is where the civilization expands. These kids will have the infrastructure to autonomize everything. Our minds are limited by the capabilities afforded us, theirs will not be. One of the 5G children will use the advances we make in the 5G Network to travel time..

5G Connectivity Will Evolve the World Part 2

Glad to see you back for more of the 5G connectivity discussion. We are on the cusp of the next big jump in human evolution. That sounds terrifying but it’s the ultimate truth. Connectivity is the mutation of the 21st century and we make major advances in human civilization with each connectivity advancement we establish. With 4g and LTE we created the IOT and changed existence forever in every possible way.

Over the next few days we, as in you and I will dive in to the next generation of mobile internet connections and what it will mean for out daily lives, what we can expect, who and where this will come from and what we can make of all of this. In this 5 part break down we are going to take a Snow-white like look into our futures. 5G connectivity is coming, and fast then you would expect. Just to put this in to a scope of things, Cyborgs will run on 5G Connectivity. Excited yet? Lets explore and prepare for the next step of human evolution.

    What is 5G?

Simply put, 5G mobile networks and wireless systems are the next phase in global telecommunication standards. However, to refer to it as merely a “next phase” is truly an understatement given how wireless connectivity has expanded far beyond smartphones and WLAN routers to new and previously unimagined markets and applications. While we are still in the early stages of evolving from person-to-person communications towards device-to-device connectivity throughout the connected home, machine-to-machine, industrial and automotive markets, these new and exciting applications are bringing profound advancements in deep learning, artificial intelligence and “ambient awareness.” The way we do business and interact with each other today will be virtually unrecognizable to many in 5-10 years, yet entirely ordinary to our children.

    How Does 5G Work

5G is a marketing term for some new mobile technologies. Definitions differ and confusion is common. The ITU IMT-2020 standard provides for speeds up to 20 gigabits per second and has only been demonstrated with millimeter waves of 15 gigahertz and higher frequency. The more recent 3GPP standard includes any network using the NR New Radio software. 5G New Radio can include lower frequencies, from 600 MHz to 6 GHz. However, the speeds in these lower frequencies are only modestly higher than new 4G systems, estimated at 15% to 50% faster. At least at the lower frequencies, “5G is evolutionary.

Huh? Yeah that’s a bit much, I know my head is spinning just typing that. What we are really saying is 5G is going to operate on minimum wave lengths. This is  allowing faster and further transmissions with less degradations and penetrate obstacles better. 5G NR speed in sub-6 GHz bands can be modestly higher than 4G with a similar amount of spectrum and antennas. That’s the How.

The Final 5G Connectivity Part 2 Thought

This was a bit intense, but I think we all got the grasp of 5G functionality, we learned today. We learned What and How, and every some new big fancy words as well. Tomorrow I want to get to the fun stuff, the why…The capabilities, the tech and tools we can use it for.
