An applicant tracking system (ATS) is a software application that enables the electronic handling of recruitment needs. An ATS can be implemented or accessed online on an enterprise or small business level, depending on the needs of the company and there is also free and open source ATS software available. 

When you apply for a job online, your resume isn’t typically going directly to a recruiter or hiring manager. It’s first being processed by an ATS. Whether that human recruiter ever sees your resume could depend on how well your resume is optimized for ATS algorithms.

Why employers use applicant tracking systems

Top employers hire for several jobs at a time and receive hundreds of resumes for any given opening. Because applying for a job online is easier than ever, many of these applicants are unqualified and figured “it was worth a try.”

Applicant tracking systems keep all these resumes in one place, helping recruiters and hiring managers stay organized as well as EEOC compliant. Some recruiters still choose to glance at every job application that comes through their applicant tracking system. In this case, most take a quick glance at the applicant’s past highlights, job titles, and companies. They can make a determination about whether they want to learn more in about 6 seconds. It’s important to make sure your top skills and qualifications are easily identifiable.

Automatic Rankings

Some applicant tracking systems can automatically compare your resume to the job description. For example, Taleo calls this feature “Req Rank,” which ranks each applicant based on how well their resume scores based on the job description. A common way recruiters filter resumes in an applicant tracking system is by searching for key skills and titles. For example, if a recruiter is hiring for an Administrative Assistant position out of 400 resumes, their first step will probably be a search for “Administrative Assistant.” This will isolate candidates that have done the exact job before. Anyone that doesn’t have that exact term in their resume is out of luck. A search can contain multiple terms. For example, they might perform a complex search that contains a combination of titles and skills important for the job:

Administrative Assistant AND data entry AND payroll …

Candidates who can predict the correct resume keywords will have the greatest chance of being included in recruiter search results. Plan F covers more costs than any other Medigap policy and is the most comprehensive of the standardized Medicare Supplement plans available in most states. But these plans might not be sold after 2020…

Medicare Supplement Plan F is a specific type of Medicare Supplement (also called Medigap) plan. This type of insurance can help pay for out-of-pocket costs of Medicare Part A and Part B. These costs might be coinsurance, copayments, or deductibles.

Plan F covers more Medicare expenses than any other supplement plan. Medicare Part A and Part B make up the federal government’s Original Medicare program. Medicare Supplement plans are also named with letters, such as Plan F, but they are not the same thing.

Plan F: Who is it for?

– People on a fixed income: When your deductibles and most cost-sharing expenses are covered, your out-of-pocket costs may be more predictable.
– International travelers: Plan F may cover most of your health care costs while traveling abroad.
– People expecting high health care costs: Plan F’s higher premiums may be worth it for those with a lot of medical expenses to cover.

Here’s what Medicare Supplement Plan F may cover:

– Inpatient hospital costs and coinsurance under Medicare Part A for an additional 365 days after Medicare coverage runs out
– Coinsurance for skilled nursing care facilities
– Medicare Part B coinsurance/copayments
– Part A deductible
– Part B deductible
– Limited emergency medical care overseas (80% up to plan limits)
– Hospice care coinsurance/copayments under Part A
– First three pints of blood

Is Medicare Supplement Plan F being discontinued?

Apparently so, for some people. According to congress.gov, starting in 2020, Medicare Supplement plans that pay the Medicare Part B deductible will no longer be sold to those newly eligible.

– If you already have Medicare Supplement Plan F (or Plan C, which also covers the Part B deductible), you can generally keep it.
– If you were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, you may be able to buy Medicare Supplement Plan F or Plan C.
– If you qualify for Medicare on January 1, 2020 or later, you may not be able to buy Medicare Supplement Plan F or Plan C.

Is there another Medicare Supplement plan that may be comparable?

Plan F offers the most comprehensive Medigap coverage available, so it’s not a surprise that it’s the most popular plan nationwide. Lately, however, Plan G has been giving F a run for its money—especially since Plan F will soon be phased out. The only thing F covers that G doesn’t is the Part B deductible ($185 in 2019), but Plan G’s lower premiums may make up the difference.

If you become eligible for Medicare in 2020 or later, although you may not be able to buy Medicare Supplement Plan F or Plan C, you may be able to buy a very similar plan. Medicare Supplement Plan G generally has the same basic benefits as Plan F, except for the Part B deductible. So, you might want to look into Plan G.

Psoriasis affects about 7.5 million people just in the United States. There are so many misconceptions about psoriasis, even by those who are affected. For the sake of those living with the condition, we’re here to clear up some of those myths.

1. Psoriasis is contagious

First things first, let’s get this out of the way – No, you cannot catch Psoriasis from someone, not even if you touch, hug or kiss them. It has nothing to do with their hygiene or how clean they are, Psoriasis is not contagious.

2. Psoriasis is a skin disease

Again, wrong. You cannot “catch” it – In fact, Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. The skin condition results from someone’s defective immune system, which in turn causes their bodies to start producing their skin cells much quicker than normal.

It is, however, genetic. If one parent has it, this will increase your risk. While having two parents who have Psoriasis may increase your risk even more. Although it is genetic, this does not necessarily mean that you will ever get it.

3. There is a cure

While we wish this was true, it is not. Psoriasis is a lifelong condition. However, that does not mean it is not manageable. People who must live with Psoriasis go through times where they have almost non-existent flare-ups. They also go through periods where they will have a particularly bad flare-up.

4. There is no treatment

While it may be a journey of narrowing down treatments that work for each individual, there are plenty of treatment options out there. There are three goals when trying to treat Psoriasis: stop the overactive cells from reproducing, sooth the itching, and to remove all the excess dead skin. Many have also found relief with prescription drugs that work thought the body. The condition usually improves during the summer months due to sun exposure slowing the cell growth.

5. Psoriasis is preventable

While there are certain measures you can take to prevent a flare-up, Psoriasis is a lifelong condition. By managing factors such as you stress level, weight, alcohol intake, smoking, etc. you can reduce the risk of a flare-up. You can also prevent a flare-up with over the counter medications and light therapy!
